If you are planning to remodel your kitchen, you should start by upgrading your countertops. There are many materials that you can consider but it can be confusing sometimes. If you listen to others, you will get more confused because some people prefer stainless steel while others prefer marbles. Others might want some composite but there is one material that is often ignored – quartz countertops.

Here are the reasons why you should consider quartz for your countertop:

It contains micro-ban

When it comes to hygiene, you can depend on quartz because it contains micro-ban, which protects against germs. Other countertop materials do not have this feature especially if they have grout-lines. Additionally, quartz does not need to be resealed, unlike granite and marble.

It is non-porous

Quartz is made of 7% resin, 93% quartz, pigments and polymers making the material non-porous. A non-porous material does not have holes or voids larger than the few atoms. Granite and marble, on the other hand, have capillaries that run through every slab. For these materials, if you spill something, it will stain. In most cases, the stain is impossible to extract.

It is easy to maintain

You already know that quartz does not need to be resealed unlike granite and marble countertops. For this reason, cleaning is easy. If you take care of the spills right away, no other maintenance is required. This simply means that quartz remains intact and beautiful with minimal effort.

It is easy to clean

Other countertops require special soap or sealant but not quartz. Its maintenance is only cleaning – all you need is a mild soap and washcloth. You simply wipe the counter with mild soap using a non-abrasive washcloth. If you are keen about keeping it shiny, you can consider stone polish every once in a while.

It is stronger than most

Many homeowners always move carefully when it comes to their countertops fearing that it will be damaged. In the case of quartz, you can certainly bang your pans and pots without worrying about a thing. The good news is that it will not scratch or crack unless you use a sledgehammer. As mentioned earlier, the countertop is made of 93% quartz, which is almost pure stone without inner deficiencies or cracks. Without a doubt, you will not find a stronger material than quartz.

It is color-consistent

Many people prefer quartz because it is color-consistent – all the way through. For quartz, what you see on the surface is the same inside. The slab is uniform inside and out. If something happens like a chipped counter, you won’t have to worry about it because it has the same color, which can disguise the damage.

It is scratch resistant

Quartz can endure scratching especially during cooking. This simply means that you do not need to worry about scratching the surface of the countertop whenever you are cooking. With stainless steel, you should accept that scratching is part of it. With granite, you need to sand down the scratches. For quartz, you can just continue whatever you are doing.
