Tyre Care and Maintenance Guide

Tyre Care and Maintenance Guide

The easiest way to make sure your Goodyear tyres are getting the right mileage and performance is to have them checked monthly for proper inflation, tread grip and damage.

Maintain proper tyre pressure

Correct tyre pressure is important to ensure that your tyres are the most efficient, safe and fuel-efficient system. Remember to check your tyres regularly (at least once a month) with a proper tyre pressure gauge (when tyres are cold)1.

Maintain proper air pressure

Recommended steps are listed on the car’s data plate or in the car’s owner’s manual. Maintaining the correct air pressure is the most important factor in ensuring that your tyres last longer and are more durable.

Under-inflation is a major cause of irreparable damage to tyres, which then crack and lose air. The load carrying capacity will be reduced to allow the extreme sidewall flexing. The rolling resistance can be increased to create a thermal and mechanical damage.

Over-inflation increases stiffness, causes unpleasant driving sensations and creates unwanted vehicle vibrations. It also increases the risk of injury from impact.

Avoid excessive tyre spinning

When your vehicle is stuck in snow, ice, mud or sand, avoid excessive tyre rotation. This can cause overheating and irreparable tyre damage. Shake the vehicle lightly to free it. Never stand beside or behind tyres that are spinning at high speed. For example, when trying to push a stuck vehicle or when using the vehicle’s rotating stabilizers.

Checking tyre alignment

If the tyre tread reaches a depth of 1.6 mm, stop using the tyre immediately. All new tyres are equipped with a tread wear indicator that shows the tread depth in the tread groove at 1.6 mm. In wet weather, even bald or nearly bald tyres can cause a skidding accident. Excessively worn tyres are also more likely to go flat.

Checking for tyre damage

For your safety, check your tyres frequently (at least once a month) for signs of damage and basic condition. If in doubt, ask the repair tyre singapore for an inspection. If your tyre is dented, punctured, cracked, knotted, bulging or has lost air, it should be removed and examined by an expert.

Proper Tyre Repair

Caution. Goodyear does not guarantee the inspection or repair process. It is the responsibility of the repairer to implement the procedures carefully in order to implement the resouces.
